Dr Lesley Ann Smith

President Elect 2027

Dr Smith will be President of the Executive in 2027/2028. LA has been on the Executive since 2020. LA has been instrumental in assisting the Society in creating the Polypectomy Course in 2021 sourcing seed founding from Te Whatu Ora. Dr Smith is the lead facilitator of the course, renamed the Mucosal/ESD (PRIME) Symposium and hands-on course in 2025. LA is also the Educational Lead for the Society assisting with the Trainees' Day educational programme and the many educational events NZSG holds.

Dr Safina Gadeock

Secretary

Dr Gadeock has been a member of the Executive since 2024. A researcher at Otago University Safina developed the first IBD patient-derived 3D intestinal organoid models. Safina is an international speaker, key reviewer for journals and research collaborator. Safina has assisted in the newly launched NZSG Researcher Page on the NZSG Website and leads the NZSG Researcher Engagement. Safina is looking forward to taking on the role of Secretary to oversee the research work at the Society.
