Ferring Young Investigator Award
The New Zealand Society of Gastroenterologists and Ferring Pharmaceuticals wish to offer Gastroenterologists, Gastroenterological medical or surgical Registrars and Surgeons an Award for the best presentation at the Scientific section at the Annual Meeting of the NZ Gastroenterology Society.The value of the Award is at the discretion of Ferring Pharmaceuticals and for 2007 will be $2,000. The Award is tenable for one year only.
The Award should assist the successful candidate to undertake a programme of further research, post-graduate training, and/or assist in participation at an overseas conference.
The following criteria will be used in making the Award:
- Originality: How original or unique is the idea, observation or research.
- Design and methods used in the investigation, research or presentation.
- Results and conclusions: The criteria will look at whether the conclusion reached by the investigator logically follow from the methods and results. It will look at the importance and relevance of the presentation to gastroenterology.
- Clinical usefulness: These criteria will look at how useful the observation or conclusions are for the clinical practitioner and for gastroenterology.
- Audio-visual presentation: How clear are the slides? How clear was the presentation? How entertaining as well as enlightening was the presentation?
The Society has the discretion not to make the Award if there is no suitable candidate.
Each of the criteria will be rated by judges appointed by the President of the New Zealand Gastroenterology Society in conjunction and in consultation with Ferring Pharmaceuticals. Any visiting speaker from overseas attending the New Zealand Gastroenterology Society Meeting will be asked to participate in judging the Award. A member of Ferring Pharmaceuticals will present the Award and Ferring may choose to exhibit cases in their stand at the Society Conference. This Award and this Agreement would be annually reviewed.
