Locum Gastroenterologist

Locum Gastroenterologist required on a Casual Basis several times per year.  The position is at Suite 7, Marinoto Clinic  which is part of a modern 22 Suite Facility situated on Maori Hill, Dunedin. Specialist Gastroenterologist

Applications are invited for a permanent full time Specialist Gastroenterologist. This position becomes available in February 2018, but an earlier starting date can be negotiable. The successful appointee will have a broad range of Gastroenterology experience and training.

Health Waikato is one of the largest providers of healthcare services in New Zealand, providing local services for a population of 200,000 and tertiary services for a region of 700,000. Waikato Hospital situated in Hamilton is a modern 600 bed tertiary base hospital. Health Waikato has an active commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi and the improvement of Maori health.

The possession of specific clinical skills in endoscopic procedures is essential. Applicants must be registered with the New Zealand Medical Council (or have qualification that are immediately registerable) and have appropriate postgraduate qualifications.

The current team consists of 7 Gastroenterologists, Specialists Nurses in Hepatology and Inflammatory Bowel Disease and a recently appointed Nurse Endoscopist. We have three advanced trainees as part of the national training scheme. The appointee will be involved in teaching, continuing medical education and quality improvement. There is emphasis on ongoing development of services to meet the needs of our patients. A commitment to customer focus, service development and teamwork are essential.

Gastroenterologist

Canterbury District Health Board is currently seeking a permanent, full-time Gastroenterologist to join our department within Christchurch Hospital. The Canterbury District Health Board is the largest tertiary, teaching and research hospital in the South Island of New Zealand, the hospital operates 600-650 beds and provides services to over 35,000 inpatients each year. Within the CDHB our Gastroenterology Department provides secondary and tertiary level inpatient, outpatient consultation service.

Specific training and competence in ERCP is desirable, however it is essential in diagnostic and therapeutic GI endoscopy. The position also entails provision of clinical training and supervision of medical staff, students and other staff as required and participation in Departmental research and audit activities - you will also be required to participate in the on-call roster.You’ll experience supportive working relationships within the hospital as well as enjoy the unique collegial relationships that stem from providing a comprehensive service to locations throughout the South Island including Timaru, Ashburton and the West Coast.

We are open to applications from newly qualified through to experienced physicians. Consultant  Gastroenterologist

Dunedin or Invercargill (Negotiable)
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Gastroenterologist position within a progressive department that is affiliated with the University of Otago. The Gastroenterology Service welcomes applications for the position with an expected start date of April 2017. The hours of work and length of employment are flexible and will be negotiated with the successful applicant. This role is based in Dunedin, however consideration would be given to a candidate who wishes to be based in Invercargill, though this would certainly involve travel to Dunedin.
With some of New Zealand’s most famous scenery and holiday spots on our doorstep (Queenstown, Wanaka, Milford Sound, Stewart Island, to name but a few), our region offers affordable living, great schools, a relaxed way of life with no traffic jams in sight.
Southern DHB offers a comprehensive range of Gastroenterology services in both of its main hospitals, located in Dunedin and Invercargill, as well as outpatient clinics in other areas of the district. Dunedin is a vibrant University town and a great place to live and work. Dunedin Hospital has 350 beds and provides care for a population of approximately 180,000. Southland Hospital, in Invercargill has 180 beds and provides care for a population of approximately 100,000.  Invercargill is situated at the base of the South Island and the people are renowned for their warmth and hospitality, there is space in abundance and you are surrounded by national parks.  The two main hospitals in Southern DHB provide care for the population of the whole of the lower South Island.  In this role you will participate in a 1:4 on-call roster and provide a full range of Gastroenterology services, alongside an enthusiastic group of colleagues.  Planning is currently underway to re-develop facilities and expand the department, so there will be opportunities to contribute to this development. There are also unlimited possibilities for laboratory and clinical based research and there is plenty of scope for collaboration with like-minded researchers. To be successful in this role you’ll need to have enthusiasm for teaching and be a team player with a commitment to improving and developing service delivery quality.
Southern DHB has all major specialties, including interventional radiology, tertiary level care in neurosurgery and cardiothoracic surgery and the region is well served by an excellent helicopter retrieval service.
Appointed specialists will possess FRACP or an equivalent qualification. Trainees within a few months of completing FRACP training are welcome to express an interest. ERCP experience is desirable, but not essential.

Gastroenterologist/General Physician - MidCentral

Are you a Gastroenterologist/General Physician looking for a new opportunity? We are looking for an additional physician to join our current team of three providing specialist services to the MidCentral region.  An SMO with ERCP training is desirable, but not essential. Our DHB is committed to providing ERCP training for an SMO if desired.Gastroenterology provides a 24/7 endoscopy service and clinics in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. We support primary health care with advice.  Medical Services at MidCentral have a general medicine take and retain most patients in the inpatient setting although some are transferred to subspecialties e.g. cardiology, respiratory and renal.

Our Gastroenterology service is supported endoscopy, IBD and hepatitis nurses. We have a Supersonic Aixplorer Shear-Wave-Elastography ultrasound machine. We have a weekly radiology meeting. We will have an advanced gastroenterology trainee registrar from December 2016.
