Gastroenterologist with Acute Internal Medicine

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as part of our Gastroenterology service at Hutt Valley DHB.

Hutt Valley DHB provides secondary services for a population of approximately 148,000, with 24-hour acute and elective care in general and orthopaedic surgery, medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, cardiology, regional rheumatology, regional burns and plastics, psychiatry, rehabilitation, gastroenterology and paediatrics.
We are seeking a specialist who is a keen general Gastroenterologist to join our strong General Medicine Department, providing General Internal Medical inpatient and outpatient services with a sub-specialty of Gastroenterology. The role is a permanent full-time with negotiable hours, but other options would also be considered.
You’ll have a strong commitment to comprehensive care encompassed within Gastroenterology /Internal Medicine, including full involvement in the acute roster for admission and on-going care of undifferentiated acute adult hospital presentations. You will be eligible for Vocational Scope Registration with the New Zealand Medical Council.
Hutt Valley DHB is working in close partnership with our neighbouring DHBs, Wairarapa and Capital & Coast, to ensure a more coordinated sub-regional approach to delivering care to our communities. Gastroenterologist

The Canterbury District Health Board is the largest tertiary, teaching and research hospital in the South Island of New Zealand. The hospital operates 600-650 beds and provides services to over 35,000 inpatients each year.

Applications for the above position are invited from Registered Medical Practitioners who hold an approved higher qualification in Medicine, enabling Vocational Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. This is a permanent full-time position within the CDHB reporting to the Clinical Director of the Department of Gastroenterology.The Gastroenterology Department provides secondary and tertiary level inpatient, outpatient consultation service and the successful applicant will be required to participate in the on-call roster. Specific training and competence in ERCP, diagnostic and therapeutic GI endoscopy is essential. The position also entails provision of clinical training and supervision of medical staff, students and other staff as required and participation in Departmental research and audit activities.

You'll experience supportive working relationships within the hospital as well as enjoy the unique collegial relationships that stem from providing a comprehensive service to locations throughout the South Island including Timaru, Ashburton and the West Coast.

Consultant  Gastroenterologist

Dunedin or Invercargill (Negotiable)
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Gastroenterologist position within a progressive department that is affiliated with the University of Otago. The Gastroenterology Service welcomes applications for the position with an expected start date of April 2017. The hours of work and length of employment are flexible and will be negotiated with the successful applicant. This role is based in Dunedin, however consideration would be given to a candidate who wishes to be based in Invercargill, though this would certainly involve travel to Dunedin.
With some of New Zealand’s most famous scenery and holiday spots on our doorstep (Queenstown, Wanaka, Milford Sound, Stewart Island, to name but a few), our region offers affordable living, great schools, a relaxed way of life with no traffic jams in sight.
Southern DHB offers a comprehensive range of Gastroenterology services in both of its main hospitals, located in Dunedin and Invercargill, as well as outpatient clinics in other areas of the district. Dunedin is a vibrant University town and a great place to live and work. Dunedin Hospital has 350 beds and provides care for a population of approximately 180,000. Southland Hospital, in Invercargill has 180 beds and provides care for a population of approximately 100,000.  Invercargill is situated at the base of the South Island and the people are renowned for their warmth and hospitality, there is space in abundance and you are surrounded by national parks.  The two main hospitals in Southern DHB provide care for the population of the whole of the lower South Island.  In this role you will participate in a 1:4 on-call roster and provide a full range of Gastroenterology services, alongside an enthusiastic group of colleagues.  Planning is currently underway to re-develop facilities and expand the department, so there will be opportunities to contribute to this development. There are also unlimited possibilities for laboratory and clinical based research and there is plenty of scope for collaboration with like-minded researchers. To be successful in this role you’ll need to have enthusiasm for teaching and be a team player with a commitment to improving and developing service delivery quality.
Southern DHB has all major specialties, including interventional radiology, tertiary level care in neurosurgery and cardiothoracic surgery and the region is well served by an excellent helicopter retrieval service.
Appointed specialists will possess FRACP or an equivalent qualification. Trainees within a few months of completing FRACP training are welcome to express an interest. ERCP experience is desirable, but not essential.

Gastroenterologist

Whanagarei, Northland

There is an excellent opportunity for a second specialist gastroenterologist position within a progressive department in Northland DHB. The role is based within Whangarei hospital with opportunities to undertake gastroenterology procedures within our district hospitals. Currently the role does not involve internal medicine or on call but could be a consideration and dependent upon the candidate.

Whangarei Hospital is the largest hospital in Northland, providing secondary care services for the region supported by three district hospitals. Northland covers an area of 12,600 square kilometers and has a population of 170,000. Planning is currently underway to re-develop endoscopy facilities and move to a dedicated suite expected within the next 12 months. This appointment will enable the development of a more sustainable model for the management of bowel disease and we look forward to hearing from candidates who have the enthusiasm for teaching, be a team player with a commitment to improving and developing services to meet the population need.

Gastroenterologist/General Physician - MidCentral

Are you a Gastroenterologist/General Physician looking for a new opportunity? We are looking for an additional physician to join our current team of three providing specialist services to the MidCentral region.  An SMO with ERCP training is desirable, but not essential. Our DHB is committed to providing ERCP training for an SMO if desired.Gastroenterology provides a 24/7 endoscopy service and clinics in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. We support primary health care with advice.  Medical Services at MidCentral have a general medicine take and retain most patients in the inpatient setting although some are transferred to subspecialties e.g. cardiology, respiratory and renal.

Our Gastroenterology service is supported endoscopy, IBD and hepatitis nurses. We have a Supersonic Aixplorer Shear-Wave-Elastography ultrasound machine. We have a weekly radiology meeting. We will have an advanced gastroenterology trainee registrar from December 2016.
